A Long-Distance Legacy Renovation in Whistler
Based in Long Island, New York, the homeowners purchased this Whistler property in 2015 as a getaway for family and friends. Looking ahead to retirement and passing the home to their children, they decided to undertake a complete transformation. The primary catalyst for the project was a failure in the existing in-floor heating system requiring full floor removal to fix which expanded into a comprehensive interior redesign. Design and permitting coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, preventing the clients from visiting Canada in person. The entire project was managed seamlessly across borders using scheduled Zoom walkthroughs and real-time FaceTime progress updates.
Full Design-Build, Structural, and Mechanical Upgrades
Whistler Builder provided complete project management from initial design concept and municipal permitting through to construction completion.
Interior Redesign: Complete layout redesign including all new luxury finishes, bespoke custom cabinetry, millwork, modern kitchen, and full bathroom overhauls.
Mechanical & Electrical Upgrades: Expanded incoming gas and electrical service capacities to support modern high-efficiency gas boilers and continuous unit-wide electric in-floor heating.
Regulatory Management: Direct coordination and approvals with both the Strata board and the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW).
A Modernized, Year-Round Mountain Sanctuary
The homeowners now enjoy a modernized, beautifully finished resort home that delivers reliable year-round warmth and effortless comfort. Despite managing the entire multi-year build remotely, clear communication made the journey enjoyable, transparent, and completely stress-free.
